Sangean ATS-909 is a great little sw radio

If you are looking for a portable shortwave radio that is easy to use, but good enough for most shortwave radio aficionados, you should seriously consider buying Sangean ATS-909. It is very compact and it can easily be carried around the world in your travels. Of course, it can receive signal on all radio bands; FM, longwave, and shortwave broadcasts are equally well received.

The radio can be operated in many easy ways. The frequencies can be using as many as five methods! These include automatic and manual settings using a keypad. In addition, the receiver provides an auto-tune function, which scans all radio frequencies and presets the memories (max. 306!) of the radio with the strongest signals. The traditional rotary tuning is quick, direct, and to us, the most effective method for finding a radio station for listening.

As is expected with a world band receiver, the digital clock can be fixed to both local and world time. And of course it can be used as an alarm clock so that you can be awakened with early morning news or your favourite shorwave broadcast.

Sangean is very well designed so it is pleasure to listen to and look at. As is to be expected in this class of receivers, it also includes a long, retractable antenna that can be used for both FM and SW reception. In addition, the radio has an internal ferrite antenna for MW and LW listening.
